There are so many cities you can visit as a Day Trip from Madrid—Segovia, Ávila, Cuenca — but we chose Toledo because we were the most interested in its history and scenery.

Toledo is around 30 minutes away by train and was once Spain’s capital. The roads are windy and hilly, filled with cobblestones and blended with Christian, Jewish, and Muslim influences. Toledo is a medieval city with views and history you don’t want to miss!
How to Get to Toledo from Madrid
You can get to Toledo by car, bus, or train. We chose to transport by train as it is the quickest and most affordable option. We purchased our tickets on RailEurope’s website, where you can easily find times and departure stations that will work for you.
Quick Tip: Most shops are not open until 10am or later in Toledo. To maximize your day trip from Madrid, aim to arrive by 10am.
